The Japanese language and culture week was held at Times Square shopping centre from the 18th until 20th of March 2016. The opening ceremony was attended by Yang Mulia Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof the Minster of Culture, Youth & Sports. Opening speech by the Ambassador of Japan in Brunei, Noriko Iki and also from Amal Majeedah the General Manager of Times Square.
Various booths from various organisations locally has joined the exhibition about Japan. Including the Japan Embassy in Brunei, BAJA/CET, Jenesys, SSEAYP, BJFA-UBD Chapters, AzuTech, Misato and Shinobu Sushi.
Making perfomances during the 3 days event were Ms Risho Saito on Ikebana Demonstration and Bon-Odori Cultural Dance. BAJA/CET, SSEAYP, Jenesys, Brunei Kendo Alliance, UBD and several appearances by the Ultraman.
Manga Demonstration and Workshop session was held on Friday, 18th March and Saturday 19th March hosted by Ms Manaru Tenkawa. Top 3 Manga works stood a chance to win Prizes.
Calligraphy competition was also held by the Japan Embassy and also provide top 3 prizes for the winners, announced during the closing ceremony.
