Times Square Shopping Centre held their first ever Korean Festival 2014 on the 17th of October 2014 to 19th October 2014. The event took place at the atrium of Times Square and was held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Korea-Brunei Friendship. The event was to expand business opportunities and to gain deeper mutual understanding between Brunei and Korea and provide a platform for showcasing Korean products, culture, and lifestyle to the public in Brunei under the same roof. The event was organized by Times Square Shopping Centre, supported and concurrently run by the Korean Embassy and UBD Korean Culture Club.
The three days event also featured taekwondo performances by ADN MMA Fitness Gym, exercise demonstration by Caragam Korea, K-Pop performances by Brunei K-Pop Lovers Fans, Kanggangsullae (Korean traditional dance) by UBD Korean Culture Club and cooking demo by Sillarestaurant. One of the favourite booths was the hanbok dress up and photo taking where customers were able to try out the Korean traditional attire. Moreover, the main highlight of Korean Festival was the special appearance by a delicious musical, BIBAP,who were flown all the way from Korea. The team of eight members captivated the audience as they showcased splendid singing, dancing and beatbox performance.
Throughout the event there was also a lucky draw and the prize presentation took place on Sunday night at 8.30pm. Prizes include vouchers from Yam-Yam Restaurant, Samsung tablet sponsored by The Embassy of the Republic of Korea, a Samsung TV from Dalim Industry, a digital camera and a Samsung tablet sponsored by Grand Motors, as well as a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.4 and Samsung Galaxy S5 sponsored by Setia Motors.The winner of the grand prize,NorsalinaHjSabli won a return ticket to Korea, which wassponsored by Anthony Tour. Present during the lucky draw presentation was the ambassador of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Mr Choi Byung-koo, general manager of Times Square, Miss Amal Majidah and the representatives of all the sponsors.
The Korean Festival brought together men and women of all cultures and traditions into an event anyone can enjoy. The event was a success where it was held to promote and strengthen Brunei-Korea Friendly relations by promoting, educating, and introducing Korean Culture to Brunei, highlighting the ties that have been established for 30 years between both nations
