THE first ‘Thai Halal Product Fair’ organised by the Royal Thai Embassy, aims to introduce and promote Thai halal products to the Brunei market.

Thailand Ambassador to Brunei Chirdchu Raktabutr noted that rapid growth and interest in halal products “has captured significant attention worldwide”. The Halal fair comprises some 20 booths offering halal Thai food, health products and cosmetics and other products. According to the Thai ambassador, a mini seminar is also scheduled to take place at the MIPR on September 7. The seminar hopes to act as a platform to seek avenues for closer cooperation and deliberation on halal innovation between Thailand and Brunei.

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha then said the two countries hoped to become “the centre of the halal food industry” by leveraging on Brunei’s halal expertise with Thailand’s food manufacturing capabilities.

The signing of the agricultural pact was witnessed by both Prime Minister Prayut and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Present as the guest of honour at the launch of the fair yesterday was Minister of Industry and Primary Resources Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar.
